Geography in Team AC
In the Autumn Term our team looked at the local area in which we live (Wombwell) and our surrounding area (Barnsley).
We looked at familiar places around Wombwell and Barnsley and named them.
The children had to learn how to write their addresses and they became familiar with vocabulary such as village, town, city, country and continent.
They had the opportunity to look at aerial view maps and plans of the area around the school and we used google earth to help them to understand where Wombwell ‘fits in’ when considering the position of other places and the wider world.
We also linked our Geography work with Literacy and compared where we lived with where Katy Morag lives in her stories.
