Team DB have been busy holding the class' creative writing workshop where they have welcomed parents into the classroom. Outcomes for the session were linked to the National Curriculum guidance for their year group. In Team DB, the creative writing centred around producing a setting description. The class worked tremendously hard to use emotive language within their work, with a focus on the five senses throughout. Some really fantastic high quality pieces were achieved - well done Team DB!

Team HG have been busy holding the class' creative writing workshop where they have welcomed parents into the classroom. Outcomes for the session were linked to the National Curriculum guidance for their year group. In Team HG, the creative writing centred around studying a poem which focussed on a teacher, on a school trip to the seaside, turning into a fish and disappearing. The poem is named: We Lost Our Teacher to the Sea. The class had some fun changing vocabulary and phrases to lose their teachers to ‘A Winter’s Day’. Children wrote their own poems; turning members of Park Street staff into things such as snowmen, robins and even holly bushes and then sharing them in the nature reserve (which the children simply adore).
Team AF have been busy holding the class' creative writing workshop where they have welcomed parents into the classroom. Outcomes for the session were linked to the National Curriculum guidance for their year group. In Team AF, the creative writing centred around designing persuasive adverts to encourage tourists to visit the nature reserve and generate profits for school. Parents were very engaged in the session and enjoyed contributing to their child's learning and developing a greater sense of how writing is taught at Park Street.
This week Mrs Longden has been busy enrolling our Year 6 team on to a fantastic project running in March linked to Shakespeare. The team will be taking on the "Write until your dry" writing workshop and accessing workshops with creative partners to develop a given Shakespeare play.
We are sure this will be a fantastic experience for our children to explore classic texts further and will be working hard behind the scenes to expand upon this for the wider school too. Today in Team LL it has been the class' creative writing workshop where they have welcomed parents into the classroom to engage in a literacy based task. Team LL are the first of a number of parental workshops for writing that we have coming up over the term so be sure to make sure you book your place on the event. Each class is aiming to incorporate the nature reserve (weather permitting) as a stimulus for writing and outcomes will be linked to the National Curriculum guidance for each year group.
In Team LL, the class and parents worked over the course of the morning to develop persuasive adverts to encourage tourists to visit the nature reserve. Firstly, welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely, restful Christmas break with your loved ones. We are thrilled to have the children back in classes and the atmosphere through school has been lovely.
