During the first Autumn Term, it is important that children through school have chance to practise and revisit previously learned writing skills after a lengthy break. To support children with fusing the link between Reading and Writing, the first few weeks of the Autumn Term have been spent producing writing linked to each class' acclaimed author. In Team CH the class have been working on labels, lists and captions linked to Julia Donaldson texts. Team JF and Team AC have written a fact file on Oliver Jeffers and Anne Fine. In Team CB, the class have been busy delving deeper into Roald Dahl's life to create a biography. Elsewhere, in Team JD, a playscript linking to David Walliams is well underway. Meanwhile, Team DB have been writing a blurb linked to J K Rowling's work. In Team HG the focus has been on creating a one sided argument linked to Why the Whales came. It has been a truly brilliant start to the Autumn so far. We can't wait to see what will follow next in our writing units that are coming up!

To celebrate Roald Dahl as their Acclaimed Author, Team CB have been busy writing a biography of his life. There was a real buzz in class today as it was a very special day for Team CB - it was Roald Dahl's 106th birthday. The class have been bursting with facts to tell anyone who walked through Team CB's door, that they are featuring in their writing. Did you know he was nicknamed Lofty because he was 6 foot 6? Perhaps you were unaware that he was sent to boarding school where he was a chocolate taster - this is where his idea for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came from.
