This week in Team CH they travelled back in time to the year 1666. They looked closely at present day London and highlighted some things they found interesting such as the bright lights, cars, buses, planes, helicopters, brick buildings and the Tube.
They questioned why they couldn’t compare these pictures of present-day London, to the London of the 17th century and that is because there was no way of capturing images of London in 1666 as cameras were not invented until 1816. Additionally, they looked very closely at present day London at night and thought hard about what London in the 17th century would look like at night and more specifically how people would move around, see in the dark and build their homes. Finally, they completed a task to help visualise the similarities and difference of present-day London and London of the past.
