Today in our Monday whole school cultural assembly, we have studied the famous person, David Bowie.
We learnt about David Bowie's life and how he showed his talents for music and the arts very early on in his life. We learnt of his passion to succeed and his realisation that in order to stay current, he had to keep on reinventing himself. We loved looking at pictures of his different inventions and at the costumes which made him really unique, different and interesting! We loved watching a video of him performing, seeing him dance, sing and hold an audience. We also loved watching a clip of when man first landed on the moon and thought that he must have been a very special person at the time as his music was played as this happened! We very much related this to the British Value of 'Individual Liberty' and felt that he is a true example of being yourself and doing what you want to do. We felt he was an inspiration to others!

A BIG well done to Team CM (AM) and Team LL for their strong attendance rates this last week!
Team CM (AM) - 100% Team LL - 98.4% Whole school - 96.8% - WELL DONE PARK STREET! SO CLOSE! Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! A HUGE well done to our Year 5/6 children who took part in the Sports Hall Athletics afternoon at Kirk Balk today! Mr Smith reported that your skills were fantastic and that you really shone out. Miss Muckell said she was overwhelmingly proud of the children's efforts and enthusiasm, cheering each other on, congratulating each other and other schools and generally being AMAZING. She said your behaviours and manners were exemplary! Well done and thank you boys and girls! I can't wait for you to represent the school so well again!
A BIG thank you to Mrs Fitchett and our Park Streeters today, for their efforts in starting the revamp work on our outdoor reading shelter!
Miss Baxter has tasked some Park Streeters with the job of supporting our very own famous illustrator, Mrs Fitchett, with revamping our outdoor reading hut, to make it more fun and enjoyable to read in at break and lunch times! We look forward to seeing the finished project over the coming weeks - thank you for your efforts Park Street in encouraging us all to keep on reading! WE LOVE IT! A BIG thank you to Mrs Hitchens and our newly formed Webster Stratton positive parenting group members! Mrs HItchens reported that the group this week, had another amazing session together, discussing parenting and sharing top tips to support each other! THANK YOU also to The Salvation Army centre in Wombwell, who are allowing Mrs Hitchens and the group to complete their work together in their building.
Keep up the hard work parents! Today in our Monday whole school cultural assembly, we have studied the famous person, Bruce Lee.
We learnt all about Bruce Lee's early life and what motivated him to become a legendary and champion martial arts expert! We learnt all about how he was resilient and fought for his own personal liberty, jumping from success to success in a range of careers from martial arts to action film superstar! We related this to the British Value of 'Individual Liberty', as Bruce fought for what he wanted and aimed to succeed in all he did, enjoying huge success. We also spoke about resilience and bouncing back from mistakes, changing the course of our lives, just like Bruce Lee did! Talk to your child about making mistakes, putting them right and succeeding! A BIG well done to Team AC and Team HG for their strong attendance rates this last week!
Team AC- 96.6% Team HG - 96.5% Whole school - 94.8% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! Today in school, children and staff have all worn RED to celebrate the Chines new year and the Year of the Rabbit!
Children enjoyed learning all about the importance of this time of year and how China celebrates this. They were seen re-enacting dragon dances through school (Nursery), making lanterns in Team JF, fact finding in Year 6 and making rabbit crafts in Team JD! In our Golden Book assembly today, we celebrated our new History Ambassadors. These are:
Elissa and Edie in Team DB and Xander and Ellis in Team HG. We look forward to hearing about all of your exciting plans to enrich our school with opportunities for us to learn more about History and people and events from the past! Already they have begun planning our 'History' dress up day where children and staff will be invited in dressed up as a significant person from the past! A local Care Home asked if our children could make one of their residents some 102 birthday cards! In true Park Street style of course, our children loved making her some cards and treats and Mrs Longden delivered them tonight - I am positive they will put a smile on her face on her 102nd birthday! What an achievement Joan! Sending lots of Park Street birthday wishes your way!
