As part of 'Safeguarding Awareness Week' in school this week, we have focused our attentions on 'Road Safety'. This is really important to us as a staff Team, as we have a busy local community, a busy main road at the bottom of the school drive and a busy drive too. We try to cater for the needs of the school community, but we also need to be ensuring the children are safe at all times, hence the focus this week! We wtached a number of vidoes in Assembly this week, all designed to point out the dangers on the road and how we all must treat roads with care. We sang along to the 'Stop, look, listen, THINK' anthem and it has been lovely to hear children using this at drop off and collection times, as they cross the drive! Team AC and Team SG enjoyed a visit to Barnsley Museums, which was great as so many children said they had never vsitied a museum before...a new life experience! Team DB have visited Wombwell Library also this week, to see what is on offer there! We also welcomed a visit from Mrs Oliver this week, our Chair of Governors. She had a walk through school and spoke to the children and staff, as we celebrated 'Feel Good Friday'! Well done to the following Teams for their attendance this last week: Team EO - 97.9% Team SG - 98.6% Whole School - 95.7% Enjoy reading our weekly 'Incredible Us!' Newsletter below! ![]()

We have had another busy week at Park Street this week! On Monday we launched our 'Anti-Bullying Week' in school, with Odd Socks Day! Mrs Watson (PSHCE Leader) had us all organised with planning and activities and our School Council had met previously to get Children in Need Day all planned out for us! We celebrated the end of our learning about kindness this week on Friday's Children in Need day, where we all wore it spotty! The children looked amazing! Throughout the course of the week, whether in learning time or in Assemblies, our children showed a rel appreciation of our school and how we have a zero tolerence to bullying. The children spoke wih confidence about how we are a 'telling' school and will always tackle any behaviours which are not OK. We also enjoyed seeing more parents in school to our UKS2 Maths Workshop this week with Mrs Firth and Mrs Bamforth. We enjoyed seeing so many parents at the second Parental Meeting evening this week too - thank you for supporting your children and the school. On the Arts front, unfortunately we were not successful in the Barnsley Rotary Club competition this year, despite our wonderful Art submitted...maybe next year! We did have, however, a wonderful response to our Poppy Art competition in school and all awards were handed out in Golden Book Assembly! There were some truely stunning and creative entries! We have welcomed our new Teaching Assistant, Miss Bell, in to school this week. She is working in Team AC! Welcome! A BIG well done to the following Teams for their attendance this week: Team SG and Team LL both with 98.7% Keep working hard Team Park Street - we only managed 92.9% as a full school this week, which is much lower than recent weeks. Let's keep working so hard on our attendance! I hope you enjoy reading more about our week in school on the Newsletter below. ![]()
Welcome back Team Park Street to Autumn 2! I hope everyone had a lovely October half term. I enjoyed a lovely weekend away with my family in Blackpool to see the Christmas lights, watched the Tower circus and went up the Tower too! Great excite! I hope you all managed to have some fun together! We have had another busy week at Park Street this week. Children have quickly got back in to their routines and have enjoyed their learning experiences! Team JF enjoyed a walk in Wombwell as part of their learning and also loved making their canned birds which they had written instructions for this week! Our School Council have been busy organising next week's Children in Need Day and our Arts Councillors have launched their 'Winter' art work competition! It has been lovely to see parents in school this week for their child's Parental Eveneing and I received some lovely feedback on how well the children have settled in to their new Teams, from parents. We also held our Year 3 /4 Maths Workshop for parents, but we were a little disappointed with how many were able to attend. We have our Year 5 / 6 workshop this week so hopefully we will have a better attendance and we will of course continue to think creatively in engaging parents with maths and best supporting their children. Mrs Fitchett has launched a Poppy Art competiion this week - get your entries in ASAP! We also have a large amount of entries to Barnsley Rockley Rotary Club Art Exhibition - details on the attached, but please go and visit the Metrodome this next weekend to offer your support and to see the masterpieces! We focused a lot in Assembly and collective worship time on Armistice Day this week and reflecting on the significance of soldiers who have braved their lives for us today. The children had a wonderful knowledge of this and enjoyed reflecting on Major John McRae's poem 'In Flanders Fields'. A BIG well done to the following Teams for their attendance rates last week: Team SG - 98% Team LF - 99.7% The whole school managed 94.6%! I hope you enjoy reading more about our week in school on the attached weekly Newsletter! ![]()
