Welcome back Team Park Street to Autumn 2! I hope everyone had a lovely October half term. I enjoyed a lovely weekend away with my family in Blackpool to see the Christmas lights, watched the Tower circus and went up the Tower too! Great excite! I hope you all managed to have some fun together! We have had another busy week at Park Street this week. Children have quickly got back in to their routines and have enjoyed their learning experiences! Team JF enjoyed a walk in Wombwell as part of their learning and also loved making their canned birds which they had written instructions for this week! Our School Council have been busy organising next week's Children in Need Day and our Arts Councillors have launched their 'Winter' art work competition! It has been lovely to see parents in school this week for their child's Parental Eveneing and I received some lovely feedback on how well the children have settled in to their new Teams, from parents. We also held our Year 3 /4 Maths Workshop for parents, but we were a little disappointed with how many were able to attend. We have our Year 5 / 6 workshop this week so hopefully we will have a better attendance and we will of course continue to think creatively in engaging parents with maths and best supporting their children. Mrs Fitchett has launched a Poppy Art competiion this week - get your entries in ASAP! We also have a large amount of entries to Barnsley Rockley Rotary Club Art Exhibition - details on the attached, but please go and visit the Metrodome this next weekend to offer your support and to see the masterpieces! We focused a lot in Assembly and collective worship time on Armistice Day this week and reflecting on the significance of soldiers who have braved their lives for us today. The children had a wonderful knowledge of this and enjoyed reflecting on Major John McRae's poem 'In Flanders Fields'. A BIG well done to the following Teams for their attendance rates last week: Team SG - 98% Team LF - 99.7% The whole school managed 94.6%! I hope you enjoy reading more about our week in school on the attached weekly Newsletter!
