Our catering team in School called ISS, visited school today for a whole school assembly. Our School Council had organised for them to food taste some of the options for ISS’s menu! Our School Council really enjoyed this and the rest of the school got chance to hear about all of the scrummy meals which ISS can offer and also why they offer them!

Team CB enjoyed a walk through Wombwell today, where they meandered through the streets and spotted lots of sites, which they didn't know were there. They saw the local Church and cemetery, the library, old banks and the old Town Hall.
On their return they were very chatty about all of the things they had learnt about their local area! Miss Baxter, Miss Charlesworth, Miss Rowson and Mr Smith were all very positive about the children's behaviours whilst out of school. They said their behaviours had been truly outstanding, staying safe at all times, listening well and being so very interested! Well done Team CB! Today in our Monday whole school cultural assembly, we have studied the famous person, Muhammad Ali.
We learnt all about Muhammad Ali's early life and what motivated him to become a legendary and champion boxer. We learnt all about how he listened to his elders and this forced him to go about things in the right way. We related this to the British Value of 'Individual Liberty', but also 'Mutual Respect' as we learnt about he helped charities with fund raising as he retired from boxing. The children are amazing at discussing which DR TIM aspect of British Values matters relate to! Talk to your child about going about things in the right way, to achieve success for yourself. Today in our Monday whole school cultural assembly, we have studied the famous person, Captain Sire Tom Moore!
We learnt all about Sir Tom's early life and what led him to be the massive supporter of the British health services, that he was. We learnt about his own visits to Hospital and how their help meant that he had an incredible amount of respect for them and what they do for the country's people. We learnt that it was because of this respect he felt, which caused him to want to raise money for them when they had to be on the front line, during the COVID-19 pandemic. We related this to the British Value of 'Mutual Respect' and looked at other examples in school, of children and adults who show mutual respect. Talk to your child about mutual respect and how as a family you show this value. Also talk to your child about the importance of Britain's health services and the important role they play in helping us on a daily basis. A BIG well done to Team CM (AM Nursery) and Team HG for their strong attendance rates this last week!
Team CM (AM) - 100% Team HG - 99.3% Whole school - 95.7% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! Miss Clementson in one of our school's History Leads and she has begun a new pupil voice group! We now have History Ambassadors who will be working with Miss Clementson every other week in school, to set up new and exciting History based learning opportunities for the whole school - we have a dress up History day coming up soon, their first piece of work! Good luck Ambassadors!
This week in our KS2 assembly, we focused on the British Value 'Mutual Respect'. We decided on the following important characteristics for our school to have, for us to be showing mutual respect to each other and our local community:
1. Maintain an open-door policy for our parents 2. Listen to all members of staff and children 3. Act on suggestions which our TEAM gives 4. Be open with praise giving 5. Focus on the mission, vision and goals of our school 6. Take the time to learn about each other’s likes, dislikes and personal goals 7. Celebrate milestones and achievements 8. Treat people with courtesy, politeness, and kindness 9. Encourage each other to convey opinions and ideas 10. Listen to what other people have to mention before expressing our own viewpoint. Never talk over or disrupt someone else 11. Use peoples’ ideas to alter or improve work 12. Never insult, name-call, disparage, or belittle individuals or their thoughts 13. Do not constantly criticise or judge each other We think we do mutual respect very well at Park Street! It was lovely to see so many parents at our 'Reading Together' session today, reading with their child and modelling how to enjoy books.
If you haven't been able to make it yet, our Reading Together sessions are every Tuesday in our school Hall at 2.45pm, open for parents of Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children! This Friday our Eco-Reps went bird watching with Miss Clementson, in our school's Nature Reserve. They had a wonderful time searching for all of the different kinds of birds we have in and around our school site. I wonder if Mr and Mrs Robin are still around...they certainly came out to say 'hello' to parents and children at Christmas time!
Thanks Eco-Reps, we can't wait to hear about your findings! A BIG well done to Team CH and Team AC for their strong attendance rates this last week!
Team CH - 100% Team AC - 100% Whole school - 96.6% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! |
