This week in assemblies we have had a focus on Poetry, to help celebrate National Poetry Day today.
The children have enjoyed listening to lots of poems about the environment, which was the focus for the Poetry Day this year. KS2 enjoyed listening to poems by Grace Nichols, including her poem about JMW Turner's painting called Snow Storm - Steam-boat off a Harbour's Mouth. We discussed the use of language - our favourite lines were 'The wildness of the whirlwind, The horses foaming at my feet'. Year 6 loved to hear this as this is the Artist they are studying at the moment.
