Since returning to school in September following partial school closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been working hard to identify the areas of learning individual pupils may need to catch up on. As always, we are making core subjects the priority - particularly the basic skills of numeracy and literacy. However here at Wombwell Park Street, we are passionate about our broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum offer and feel now more than ever pupils need the opportunity to engage in a wide range of learning opportunities. Children will be accessing the full range of curriculum subjects this year. If you wish to discuss our current curriculum provision further do not hesitate to contact school and Mrs Longden Deputy Head can provide further information. Should you need any further information relating to provision in PE, Miss Garratt, Mr Smith and Mrs Petitt will be happy to answer any questions.

Every class has been working extremely hard in their chosen sport/ activity over the past couple of weeks. We have been able to get outside on the courts and field. A quick reminder that as the weather starts to turn and it gets colder if parents/carers could supply children with a jacket and jogger bottoms, this will be very much appreciated! Any problems regarding this, please get in touch.
The children have been phenomenal and we are seeing clear development in each class! All pupils definitely seem to enjoy participating in PE, which shows that we are going in the right direction! Well done to all, we will continue to set high standards right through school in PE. Mr Smith (Sports coach) and Miss Garratt (PE lead) Our awards for excelling in PE have started again over the past couple of weeks. Well done to Team CT, who won it this week after working extremely hard in the two lessons they participated in. Keep it up team CT! Also a special mention to team AF and LL who have also won the award.
Mr Smith PE is a statutory part of the curriculum and children are entitled to 2 hours of PE each week from KS1 upwards.
As you will be aware from Mrs Lawson’s letter last week, it is compulsory that children are required to have their PE kit in school. Our uniform policy states that: ‘The school has adopted the following uniform for PE lessons:
The system is was and will continue to be closely monitored. Therefore, if a pupil does not have the required kit or cannot remove earrings, then this will result in an initial verbal reminder to the child, followed by a letter to parents/carers if the reminder proves to be unsuccessful. We really appreciate those who do bring their PE kits to school religiously and want to make sure that this does not go unnoticed; therefore children who bring their PE kits every week will be rewarded with Dojo Points and will be invited to a sporting session with Mr Smith at the end of the each term. It is recommended that PE kits are brought to school on a Monday and left until Friday in case PE slots are changed or there are extra sporting activities taking place that week. Thank you for your support and understanding. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to contact school. Mr Smith (Sports Coach) and Miss Garratt (PE Lead) |
