This half term, Team JF have been working incredibly hard to learn dance routines with a theme of fireworks. This week the children had the opportunity to put all of their hard work to use and perform their routines to the rest of the class. The children were amazing at this! Their timing, pace and moves had been carefully considered and they blew staff away!

Earlier in the Autumn term, Team AC have been perfecting a pike, tuck and straddle low level shape.
This week, Team AC have been working on linking some of their low level shapes into a short sequence and performing with a friend mirroring each other. During this half term in PE, Team JD have covered a range of different activities such: basketball, football and balance.
They have also focused on team work and leadership. They had four groups and each group had a different obstacle course. One team member was blind folded and the other partner in the team had to guide them through the obstacle course using only their instructions. The children stayed focused and were attuned to only using their sense of hearing. The leader soon figured out that their instructions needed to be short and clear. The children had so much fun and the adults in Team JD were in awe of how well the children worked together. We have future leaders in Team Park Street! Today, Team EO took park in a dance workshop that introduced the children to the Hindu festival of Diwali – the Festival of Light. They performed a dance that told the story of Rama and Sita.
The children showed excellent listening skills as they were introduced to poses for Rama, Sita, Ravana and the diva lamps and different moves which helped them to create their dance. Team EO are excited to be learning more about this festival after half-term and on Friday as a school we will be 'wearing it bright' to celebrate Diwali. Check out the pictures on Team EO's blog page. Our boys' football team in years 5 and 6 deserve a sincere congratulations for their performance last week versus another nearby primary school. The boys played brilliantly and won 11-1.
It was fantastic to see them succeed both collectively and individually. The team showed a range of skills, such as collaboration, desire, and effective decision-making. The school is very pleased of these boys since they set a great example for our younger pupils. Well done! Today, the Year 5s were very lucky to take part in the Ramp-Up event at Park Street. The children took to the Courts, where ramps had been set up by the team. Once they had donned their helmets, the children were given the opportunity to use scooters and BMX bikes to explore the various ramps. As the morning progressed, so did the children's confidence. Everyone was having a go, whether the ramp was big or small. The children had an amazing morning and were all exhilarated at being on the ramps. Some children enjoyed the experience of riding the BMXs, especially as they had to ride them stood up!
Teams LL and AF have been getting stuck into their Basketball unit - learning how to pass, dribble, attack and defend. They are working hard to improve our hoop shooting accuracy.
