Autumn 1 in Team DB

This half term, Team DB have been working really hard to build upon and develop their skills in writing. We have explored and created expanded noun phrases to enable us to write our own short story linking with our topic about Whitby. The children have also worked really hard to add grammatical devices such as prepositional phrases, emotive language and fronted adverbials to give extra detail to their work in order to engage the audience. During this half term, the children have focussed on different forms of poetry and are beginning to recognise that not all poems have to rhyme, as well as discovering new structures to enable them to write their own Haiku poem. The children were able to use adjectives, nouns, verbs, adverbs and alliteration to do this.
