I just wanted to share how proud I was of our Reading Leaders in school today. I have walked through school as I normally do just after lunch time to see the children learning and all of our Reading Leaders were mega busy with their reading partners, engaging them in reading in our Library area, helping and encouraging them to read accurately and fluently!
What a super set of Reading Leaders we have this year! Well done!

As you will know, our Reading Leaders were desperate to undertake a 'Diary Day', also renamed as 'D Day' by the Leaders, to see which class was reading the most books at home (on one particular day). This happened on 10.10.23!
We are pleased to announce that with 18 reads, Team JF won! The Reading Leaders will be meeting soon to decide on your reward! The Reading Leaders have asked Mrs Lawson and Miss McGinness to write out to parents to ask parents to read more at home with their children on a regular basis, so we have more children all through school reading at home. This will be sent out in due course and another 'D Day' will be held just after the half term holidays! Our Reading Leaders for 2023-24 have all now been elected to their new roles for this year!
We have met and have decided on a few challeneges we would like to introduce this half term! They would like to hold a 'Diary Day' in school where each member of staff in each team adds up how many children read the previous night and the winning team gets a bundle of books for their library! This will be held shortly! The Reading Leaders also want to launch their 'Extreme Read' challenege and the winners will be the children reading and enjoying their books in the most extreme of places - good luck Park Street! Today we celebrated Roald Dahl day in school. Each class chose a book, rhyme or extract by the author to share during their class story time. Team AC found out lots of information about the author and enjoyed the story of "The Enormous Crocodile." Read the document below to find out what else they got up to:
Well done Park Street Readers! Keep going until the end of the term...I wonder who might get the highest amount of READS?
Another BIG well done to our Readers of the Week this week! Be sure to take a look at our 'Incredible Us! Newsletter' this week, detailing the new reading rewards which will start in September!
A MASSIVE thank you to all of our Readers of the Week this week! You have all tried so very hard! We are really proud of your effort and progress! Take a look at the new display in our Reading Library in school this next week - Miss Baxter is launching our new 'Star Books' reward system for September! We will write out to parents to explain it, but we think the children will love it! Keep reading Park Street!
Amazing high reads this week Park Street but let's have more of you next week please! Remember our high expectations! Go for it!
Another HUGE pile of reading cards to hand out this week in Golden Book Assembly - well done Park Street! Always so lovely to see the BIG smiles on children's faces when we talk about the importance of reading! Team AC have also enjoyed their library trip this week! I hope our Reception children enjoy the new additions to their take-home library books!
