To celebrate book week, Park Street are having a book treasure hunt! Please look out for wrapped up books which will be hidden all around the school site for you to find. If you are lucky enough to find one, you can un-wrap it and take it home to enjoy. Once you have read it, please wrap it up again and re-hide it somewhere around the school grounds for someone else to find.
Please feel free to wrap up a book or two of your own (pre-loved are fine) and hide them around the school site for others to find. We hope to generate lots of excitement around books and reading! EVERY CHILD A READER!

Well done once again to our Readers of the Week this week! So amazing to still see so many boys and girls working so very hard to achieve success! Go for it Park Street, let's really work hard this half term and get as many reads in as possible!
In Team CH the class have been giving their all to developing their reading through Read Write Inc phonics and Read Write Inc comprehension. The class have been developing confidence in the accuracy and fluency of their reading to support them in the coming months as they prepare for their Phonics Screening Check. We are super proud of you all - keep it up!
The children in EYFS had a wonderful Bedtime Story Day to end the half term today. The children were invited to wear their pyjamas and bring their favourite bedtime story to share with their friends. During the day we shared lots of lovely stories while curled up under blankets. We even read some stories by torch light! Some different grown-ups from around school visited our classes to share their favourite stories and we finished the day with a hot chocolate and yet another lovely story time.
The children and staff had a magical day and we all agreed that WE LOVE BOOKS! Please see our class blogs for further details and photos. A HUGE well done once again to the Readers of the Week this week, who were beaming with pride when award with their certifi-card! So AMAZING to hear the gasps in Golden Book assemblies when so many children are achieving well!
Over the course of the Spring Term, Team JD have been working incredibly hard in their reading. They have been using the text driver 'WildLives: 50 Extraordinary Animals that Made History' to facilitate their writing and provide them with a deeper understanding of the way in which non-fiction texts are designed. They have looked carefully at organisational devices, subject specific vocabulary and applied what they have read to a range of different reading VIPER skills. Feedback around the text has been great with the class saying they felt it was inspiring and entertaining to read and that it was an excellent book full of wonderful stories of remarkable animals.
A massive well done to our Park Street team this week! It is so amazing to see that week on week, we have more and more children working their way up the bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards system! What is always so lovely to see too is their BIG smiles on their faces when they proudly stand in Golden Book! An extra special mentions to Thomas in Team CH this week who was so incredibly proud of himself for his achievements. Staff were blown away by his reaction! It was a pleasure to witness such pride and excitement!
In reading, Team DB have worked really hard to unpick non-fiction texts. They have been reading about individuals from the class text, ‘Herstory’. The children have enjoyed learning about women, past and present, who have been so influential throughout history to the modern day. They have focussed a lot on vocabulary and determining why certain phrases have been chosen, and deepening their understanding about the definition of new words. Vocabulary and retrieval have been the team's key VIPERS focus. The class have spent time each week unpicking texts and using images and actions to develop an understanding of unfamiliar words, enabling them to use these in context and explain their meaning. They have then built upon their fluency skills through echo reading.
