Spring update - Team DB

In reading, Team DB have worked really hard to unpick non-fiction texts. They have been reading about individuals from the class text, ‘Herstory’. The children have enjoyed learning about women, past and present, who have been so influential throughout history to the modern day. They have focussed a lot on vocabulary and determining why certain phrases have been chosen, and deepening their understanding about the definition of new words. Vocabulary and retrieval have been the team's key VIPERS focus. The class have spent time each week unpicking texts and using images and actions to develop an understanding of unfamiliar words, enabling them to use these in context and explain their meaning. They have then built upon their fluency skills through echo reading.
