This week has been Enterprise Week in school and I am incredibly proud of Team JF. The children produced some fantastic Christmas treats and they thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. Not only that, their products were a bit hit throughout the school.
Well done! Maths In maths we have continued our work around multiplication and division with a focus on the four times tables. The children have worked really hard not only to solve the calculations but also writing the inverse to them. From this, they were able to tackle some tricky word problems where they had to decide the correct calculation to use.. Once again, Team JF have blown me away with their determination and eagerness to learn. Literacy This week in literacy we have been exploring persuasive writing. We have looked at a range of persuasive techniques, their purposes and thought of our own examples. From this, we have decided to combine our literacy with our topic, of the Amazon rainforest, and will be writing persuasive letters to stop deforestation. The children have gathered lots of information and have developed a great argument against it. I look forward to starting our writing next week!

Literacy .
Welcome back! Our focus this week in literacy has been an introduction to instructions. We initially explored different types of instructions and unpicked the features of them. From this, we worked in groups using the Ipad's to create our own instructional videos of how to make a paper hat. The children loved this activity and really got into character producing some fantastic videos! Next week, we will continue our work around instructions and will be transferring the skills we have learned into our writing. Maths We have spent this week finishing off our unit of addition and subtraction. The children have worked extremely hard tackling the formal method of column subtraction. As we moved into exchanging numbers they quickly grasped the need to take from a neighbour if they didn't have enough to complete the subtraction. The children's effort and determination has amazed me this week as I know this was challenging for them. Well done Team JF! |
