Literacy
Wow what a week! This week, we have been exploring a variety of European foods and how each dish is made. From this, we decided to write our own recipe. After some crucial voting in the classroom, it was decided we would make pizzas and made a list of the traditional Italian toppings we would need. The children were truly incredible chefs and produced some amazing pizzas, which they thoroughly enjoyed eating! Towards the end of the week, we started the first draft of our recipe and will continue with into next week. Maths This week, our unit of addition and subtraction has come to an end. As we moved through this unit, the children have demonstrated a secure understanding of adding and subtracting using the column method. From this, they have had the opportunity to apply these skills into reasoning and problem solving questions. This was a really tricky concept to determine the operation they had to do, however, the children have worked extremely hard to accomplish this and have showed great resilience towards their learning. Keep up the amazing work! Science In science this week, we have continued exploring States of Matter. The children worked in groups of 5 to plan their own enquiry to investigate whether temperature impacts the rate of evaporation. The children had to consider the equipment they required, what they would be measuring/observing, how they would present their findings and most importantly, how could they ensure it was a fair test. The investigations will be carried out next week and I am already looking forward to the results!
