This week in maths, Team JF have been exploring place value. We have been focusing on the value of each digit in 4 digit numbers To do this, we have had many practical sessions using the place value counters, base 10 and place value grids. The children have not only worked really hard to partition and represent numbers in a variety of ways but also explain their reasons behind this. Alongside this, the children have extended their knowledge of numbers by rounding to the nearest 10,100 and 1000. This was a challenge but they have demonstrated great determination to succeed! We will continue to develop our understanding of place value next week
Team JF's literacy this week has been really exciting! We have started our unit of Traditional Tales. We have been using a variety of tales such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Snow White to unpick the structure and steal some ideas. We began working in groups to create our own checklist of what make a great adventure story and from this we started exploring these features. After a lot of discussion and many votes, we finally decided the plan for our own stories. We have just finished our introductions, however, I already know they are going to be amazing as the children generated an abundance of impressive ideas.
