Maths
We began our Maths lesson on Monday by applying the written method for addition to part part whole models and addition pyramids. Following this, we moved on to the written method for subtraction, looking at calculations that have the same number of digits, a different number of digits and then decimals. Some of Team LG also began applying their knowledge to reasoning questions. Literacy Throughout our Reading lessons we have focused on the skill of retrieval and using the question to help structure our answer. This is something that we need to continue working on in the near future. During our writing lessons, we have used our knowledge of nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs to begin writing a poem about Whitby. We are going to continue this next week, with a focus on similes, personification, alliteration, metaphors and onomatopoeia.

Throughout the week we have focused on the written method for solving addition calculations. We began by looking at numbers that have the same amount of digits, followed by numbers with differing digits and decimals. This is something we will be continuing with next week, including the application of this skill to solve part part whole models and reasoning questions. Literacy Since our return from Whitby, we have been writing recounts of our day trip. We have had a particular focus on the use of correct punctuation and have also incorporated modal verbs. This week we have completed our recounts, edited and are now in the publishing stage. It's fantastic to read different perspective's of the day and the bits that the children enjoyed the most. |
