This term, our Science topic is 'I'm a Teacher Get Me Out of Where?' Throughout the term we will be focusing on three habitats - the Mojave Desert, the Indonesia Rainforest and the Arctic - and learning all about the plants and animals. This unit of work covers two key areas, how animals adapt to their surroundings and the life cycle of plants. The whole of the topic centres around us being the producers of a new ITV series, where teachers are sent to these habitats to complete various tasks and activities. As the producers, it is our task to convince Mrs Lawson why she should allow her staff to take part in this brand new and exciting show. The first job we need to do is to think about all the reasons why our selected teachers (Mrs Longden, Miss Baxter and Mr Fidment) would be great participants on the show. We need to identify their character traits and decide what it is about these teachers that would make the show entertaining. Take a look at the document below to see how you could set this out
Following this, we then need to begin research into the different habitats we are studying. It would be a major task to find out about all three habitats and therefore when completing your research please only select one.
You will need to bear in mind that whichever habitat you choose, you will be working with that 'Team Leader' throughout the term. The leaders and their habitats this year are as follows: Mrs Longden - The Arctic Miss Baxter - The Mojave Desert Mr Fidment - The Indonesia Rainforest You could set your research out as a mind map, as a fact file or a poster for example.
