Maths
Throughout our maths lessons this week we recapped simplifying fractions before focusing on multiplying fractions. We recognised that when multiplying fractions, the 'x' symbol can also mean 'of'. Through visually representing our calculations we soon realised that when multiplying we need to covert our whole number into a fraction. We can then multiply the numerators together and multiply the denominators together. Once we have completed this step we can then simply our improper fraction to give a mixed number. Literacy At the beginning of the week we split into three teams: Team Longden, Team Baxter and Team Fidment. Each team was given a habitat to research: the Amazon Rainforest, the Arctic and the Sahara Desert (retrospectively). Following our research we began writing letters (using persuasive techniques) to convince Mrs Lawson to allow her staff to participate in 'I'm a Teacher Get Me Out of Here'. In our letters we had to include where our team captain would be sent and the benefits of the trip. We made strong links to the experiences that the staff would be having and how this would be an advantage for Park Street. Clever, don't you think?
