Maths
This week we have consolidated our knowledge of perimeter, and also used our knowledge of shapes to calculate the perimeter of shapes with missing lengths. We have then progressed onto finding the area of rectangles and will be furthering this next week by finding the area of compound rectilinear shapes.

Literacy
During our writing lessons, we have planned and started to write our diary entries (from the perspective of a coal miner). Some children have chosen to write using the Barnsley dialect, which has added real twist to their work. Mrs Firth, who isn't from Barnsley, has had great difficulty at times understanding the slang used within our work.
