As part of our Science topic this term, I have arranged for a class trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park which is due to take place after the half term holiday. The scheduled date for this visit is Tuesday 6th June 2017. The majority of the day will be self-guided, giving the children a chance to visit a variety of animals and learn all about their natural habitats. The park itself offers the opportunity for the children to attend scheduled ranger talks, animal feeding times and chat with the park rangers to learn more about the wildlife. With nearly 400 animals and 70 different species of animal, Yorkshire Wildlife Park is a fantastic place to experience a fantastic walkthrough wildlife adventure. To make the most of the day and to ensure that the children can get the best experience whilst at the park I have booked for the children to attend an educational workshop led by the staff at the wildlife park. Linked to our topic on Habitats and Life Cycles, this session will focus on African savannahs, polar, desert and rainforest habitats and some of the animals that live there. This session involves a habitat game activity, animal bio – facts and live animals. On the day of the trip we will register as normal and set off to the park at 8:45am. We will travel by coach and arrive at Yorkshire Wildlife Park for 9:45am. Once we have arrived and made our way through the entrance we will explore the park and visit the animals in small groups supervised by a member of Park Street staff. At 12:00pm we will head for our educational talk which is scheduled for 40 minutes. Following this, we will stop to have our lunch (children will need to take a packed lunch with them) in one of the picnic surroundings. After eating we aim to explore the park further and be back on the coach to head home at 2:15pm. We will arrive back at school in time for the end of the school day at 3:15pm. The total cost for this trip is £12.50 per child. This has been subsidised by school funds to offset costs to you. The price for this trip includes your child’s entrance to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, the educational talk and the transport to and from the park. If you would like your child to participate in this fantastic day of learning, would you please complete the slip on the attached document below and return it to school as soon as possible. Kindest Regards, Miss Garratt
